Death

Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “None of you should wish for death because of a calamity befalling him; but if he has to wish for death, he should say: “O Allah! Keep me alive as long as life is better for me, and let me die if death is better for me.’ ”
Sahih Al-Bukhari – Book 70 Hadith 575

Narrated Al Mughira bin Shuba: On the day of Ibrahim’s death, the sun eclipsed and the people said that the eclipse was due to the death of Ibrahim (the son of the Prophet). Allah’s Apostle said, “The sun and the moon are two signs amongst the signs of Allah. They do not eclipse because of someone’s death or life. So when you see them, invoke Allah and pray till the eclipse is clear.”

Narrated Anas bin Malik: Allah’s Apostle said, “(Death from) plague is martyrdom for every Muslim.”

Narrated Zainab bint Um Salama: When Um Habiba bint Abi Sufyan was informed of her father’s death, she asked for perfume and rubbed it over her arms and said, “I am not in need of perfume, but I have heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) saying, “It is not lawful for a lady who believes in Allah and the Last Day to mourn for more than three days except for her husband for whom the (mourning) period is four months and ten days.”

Narrated AbuSa’id al-Khudri: When the time of his death came, he called for new clothes and put on them. He then said: I heard the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) say: A deceased will be raised in the clothes in which he died.
Sunan of Abu-Dawood – Book 20 Hadith 3108 

Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah: Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said, “Do not wish for death, for the terror of the place whence one looks down is severe. It is part of a man’s happiness that his life should be long and Allah Who is Great and Glorious, should supply him with repentance.”
Ahmad transmitted it.
Al-Tirmidhi – Hadith 1613 

Narrated Umm Bishr, daughter of al-Bara’ ibn Ma’rur AbdurRahman ibn Ka’b told on his father’s authority that when death came to Ka’b, Umm Bishr, daughter of al-Bara’ ibn Ma’rur, visited him and said, “AbuAbdurRahman, if you meet so and so, give him a greeting from me.” He replied, “Allah forgive you, Umm Bishr, I shall be too occupied to do that.” She said, “AbuAbdurRahman, have you not heard Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) say that the souls of believers are in green birds which are suspended on and feed on the trees of Paradise?” On his replying that he had, she said that that was what she meant.
Ibn Majah and Bayhaqi, in Kitab al-Ba’th wan-Nushur, transmitted it.
Al-Tirmidhi – Hadith 1631 

Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr: Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said, “The gift to a believer is death,”
Bayhaqi transmitted it in Shu’ab al-Iman.
